The last part-time, volunteer Fire Chief, Charles Olson oversaw Poulsbo Fire Department, still all volunteer at the time, through one of the most significant periods of regional population growth on the Kistap Peninsula. He was succeeded by the department's first paid full-time Fire Chief, Larry Dibble in 1979.
