Took the reigns from Rudie Iverson in 1960. As a part-time, volunteer Fire Chief in the 1960s, Clarence oversaw the all volunteer Poulsbo Fire Department during the official establishment of Fire District 18. Fire District 18 consisted of most of the area north of Poulsbo (but not the town limits of Port Gamble), east to Suquamish, and on the west side from Keyport north and west to Hood Canal except for the Navy Base at Bangor, He was succeeded by Fire Chief, Charles Olson in 1968.
