Fire Department Station 74 (Vinland station) was constructed in 1979 and was originally known as Kitsap County Fire District 18 (KCFD) Station 3. In 1988, when KCFD 18 and KCFD 3 (Keyport) merged, the Vinland station was changed to station 4 and later to station 74. The station was an unstaffed station and relied on 10-12 volunteers that respond from home when alerted by pager through the 911 system. With the opening of Station 77 in 2003, Station 74 was closed.

The station had three bays, a small office and restrooms. Station 74 Volunteers were some of the most active in the district and dedicated four to five evenings a week, signing up ahead of time for a specified number of hours and guaranteeing that the units would respond if called. When operational, Station 74 had the following equipment and capabilities:
